Through watershed programmes there is a vital public investment even by the poor farmers on their own lands. The value of production of kharif and rabi crops has increased with the help of watershed programmes. There is a reduction in distress migration during the years of ongoing watershed implementation. Many tribal farmers who have grown a single rainfed crop all their lives are now cultivating 2-3 crops.

POONAM MADAN PATEL
RAJU SHIVRAM JAMBEKAR

I ,Poonam Madan Patel, belongs to Korku Tribe. I was fortunate enough to complete my 12th standard and I was at home doing household works. Fortunately I met Dayasagar sisters who appointed me as a teacher in Early Child Care Centre run by them and I was very happy to teach little children. One day I was asked by sisters to go for higher studies since I had 78% marks for my 12th. Sr Mareena ,an Ursuline Nun, came forward to support me financially for my studies and she got admission for me for BSc Nursing in Bell-Air college of Nursing. But I was so frightened and not willing to go out of my village and my parents who are illiterate and poor never wanted me to go out of my village . Sr Amritha ,the Directress of Dayasagar made my parents and me well convinced and I took courage to do my studies. Today I completed my studies and a Government employee at  Morarji Gokaldas Rural Hospital, Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra . I am grateful to Dayasagar Social Centre for all the support. Thank You.

Mr Raju  Shivram Jambekar, a 25-year-old youth was very industrious and earned well for his family. One day he became sick and diagnosed with bone Tb and gradually became bedridden. is wife left him and He was in a very distressed condition. His parents couldn't go to work as they have to take care of him. There were days in this family when they went without food.  Our timely intervention to take him for treatment and medication helped him to come to a normal state and now he doing well. We also supported him to start  income generation programs like goat rearing and poultry unit
